Local Needs Housing
In January 2018 work will start on-site to develop the 18 local needs housing on the former Suffolk CC Highways site behind Harwoods Place on the Melford Road. The first turf will be cut by our MP Mr James Cartledge.
The houses are being developed by Lavenham Community Land Trust and Hastoe Housing and will comprise of one, two and three bedroomed properties. Most will be for rent and some will be shared ownership. They will be available first to people with a Lavenham connection as follows;-
- Have lived in Lavenham for at least 2 years.
- Have a close family member who has lived in Lavenham for 2 or more years and they wish to be near that relative.
- Be employed continuously for 2 or more years in Lavenham.
- Have been a former resident of Lavenham either; for 6 of the previous 12 months, or for 3 years in the preceding 5 years.
If there are no eligible people in these categories then the locality can be expanded beyond Lavenham.
To register go to the Gateway to Homechoice website – you can only be considered if you are first registered on this website.
Further information can be obtained by e-mail from Isobel Wright at Hastoe. This will also allow you to register your interest with Hastoe.
In February 2018 you will receive through your door an invitation to join the Lavenham Community Land Trust together with more information about it.
A local housing needs survey will also be delivered to all households to complete. This is an essential piece of information to help gauge demand for local housing now and in the future.
The survey will be carried out independently by Community Action Suffolk, and only a summary of generic information will be shard with the parish council. No personal information will be made available.
