Lavenham First Responders

First Responder Groups are volunteer paramedics trained by ambulance trusts to provide emergency medical assistance within their local communities. Community First Responders (CFRs) work on a flexible part-time on-call basis so that they can schedule their hours around their other activities and commitments.

The type of emergencies to which CFRs may be sent include chest pains/heart attacks, strokes, breathing difficulties, choking, bleeding and diabetes, but in many cases it’s a case of reassuring the patient and monitor their condition until an ambulance arrives.

The Lavenham group covers an area of about 6 miles radius around the village. We also provide first aid cover at public village events such as the classic car show, the jubilee party, the school fireworks show, etc. We would like to increase the size of the group so that we can provide more hours of cover. Requirements are to be aged between 18 and 70, reasonably healthy, have access to a vehicle and a minimum availability of 16 hours a month on average.
